Comprehensive and adjustable dorsal splint and back support anatomically designed to activate the muscles and functionality of the back.

The SpineBoard orthosis consist of a padded plastic splint that has been reinforced with 2 aluminium stays and inserted into a textile lumbar support bandage. Additional shoulder straps pull the patients body backwards against the splint.

Wearing the SpineBoard activates the back muscles. The upper part of the body straightens itself, counteracting the hunched back that is typical to osteoporosis.

The splint should be individually adjusted by an orthotist when worn the first time. The SpineBoard has been designed to enable the patient to breath normally and to move the arms and shoulders without restriction. The device has also been adapted for ease of use by individuals with limited mobility.

The plastic splint contoured S shape corresponds to the normal lumbar lordosis and thoracic kyphosis. The vertical groove in the centre alleviates pressure on the bony protrusions of the processus spinosus. Two thin, shaped aluminium bars at each side of this groove provides support to the plastic splint. The splint has been fitted with extra soft padding strips inside for added comfort. The splint is covered in fabric to enable it to be worn discretely by the patient.

Each shoulder strap has a metal buckle with a roller system to make it easy to put on for patients in all categories. Moreover, the ends of each strap to the removeable Y tab closure system taper outwards to prevent them from accidentally sliding through the rings.

The back support also has extra features to help elderly persons or individuals with limited dexterity. The back bandage has wide finger pockets to make it easier to put on. Extra finger loops have been attached to the ends of the side pull straps to enable them to be grasped more easily at the side of the body. These elastic side straps are applied in a V shape at the back of the support bandage to keep the spinal splint as close to the body as possible.

The support is supplied in two parts; a back support available in 4 sizes and a dorsal splint which comes in 3 sizes. This listing is for both elements and you can let us know which size dorsal splint you require.
